My Review of NCIS 10x07 “Shell Shock Part 2”
This was an amazingly phenomenal episode, and my first rating after watching it Tuesday was a 10, though regrettably I do have to move it to a 9.5, and I’ll say why at the end.
The opening to the episode was pretty epic. I loved the way it flashed back and forth between the guys just joking around to the ambush. It was really something.
And I swear, every time I see Captain Wescott, I love him even more.

The case was wonderful, and believe me, I really enjoyed it, and cheered a little when they caught the bad guys, but I’m not going to spend much time on the bad guys with bombs and his girlfriend with a ponytail.
Because I think we’ve already had enough bombs for this season. Agreed?
The recreation of the ambush and everything that Abby did with the virtual software was really interesting. I remember looking at my dad like “Wow that’s coool.” Because to me, it really was.

Other than that, the case is pretty straight forward. They find the girl that Wescott saw in the store. They catch Randall with one bomb, but alas, there’s another one, and his girlfriend has it. But they catch her. Case Closed. Woo-hoo for Team Gibbs.

Now for the fun part. At the beginning of the episode we see Ziva trying to make plans for the opera on Saturday night on the phone. Yes, it has to be Saturday, and yes, it has to be the opera. Tony is curious, he asks questions, and automatically assumes that she must be really serious about this “guy”, because the opera is one of “The Big 3” that I’ve never heard of before. He definitely had his bowl of jealousy that morning.
He even goes as far as making McGee ask her about it. That doesn’t go too well.

But it does give us some lovely team banter, which I adore.

The scene with Gibbs and Ziva when he sends her and Tony on the stakeout was absolutely hilarious. I remember saying “Oh, God, baby, no. Are you really- Ziva. Baby.” or something of that matter when she started buttering up to Gibbs. “A boys only stakeout”?

But no, he tells her that he told her to go, and then sides with Tony. After all, it is one of The Big 3.
It makes me think that Tony told Gibbs, and it makes me believe that Gibbs is a shipper, and if not, he at least knows that Tony has some serious feelings going on in the Ziva department, and so he tells Ziva to “cut the guy some slack”.
Point for Gibbs.
*insert appropriate gif here because I couldn’t find one*
The car scene. So many wonderful things.
Tony’s jealousy was wonderful, despite the fact that he said “I don’t care who the guy is.”
“I just thought that we were… you know… telling each other things about things. Things that… you know… matter.”

He sounded so hurt, because just last week he was telling Ziva about his mom, and now he’s upset because she won’t even tell him about this non-existent boyfriend that she’s taking to the opera.
But it isn’t a boyfriend. It’s Tali. And Ziva has went to the opera every year on Tali’s birthday in honor of her, but they were sold out this year. And she feels like she’s letting her sister down.

By this point I was lying on my side in the fetal position rocking back and forth already, and then Tony reaches over and squeezes her shoulder in an act of comfort.

So then I’m thinking “Wow, that scene was really amazing. It was so wonderful to have such nice scenes two weeks in a row.”
I wasn’t expecting that end scene. At all.
And so when it came up and Tony was walking in and Ziva was there, I kinda lost it. Because I knew something significant was about to go down and I was still trying to cope with the car scene.
“I know it’s not the same, but maybe if you closed your eyes, it would be like you were at the opera. And maybe even like Tali’s there with you.”

“Thank you.”

The fact that he would do something like that for her is just… amazing. If anyone ever does anything like that for me, I’ll ask them to marry me myself. It was sweet, and thoughtful, and charming, and if she’s never realized how much he loves her before, I think she definitely knows now.
And we’ve known Tony does practically since Housekeeping, for sure.

Okay, so the only reason I changed my initial rating was just because I really wish we could have seen like when Ziva came in to the dinner. That only would have taken like ten seconds, just to show her walking in, see how she and Tony look at her, and then Abby could have been like ‘Oh there you are! We saved you a seat” or something. It would have been amazing.
Anyway…
So, as for this “mystery man” next week… I’m not really worried. This season has been amazing so far, in all aspects, and I trust the writers.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see what that’s about on Tuesday, in “Gone”, the episode where Ziva has her hair in a nice ponytail for the first time this season. We all know what that’s about, though. ;)
